About The Artist
Oksana was born and raised in Dnipro, a beautiful city in Ukraine. She had quite a long journey to becoming a full-time artist. Initially educated as an engineer, she occasionally painted for fun and did not consider painting her profession. Several years ago, she realized painting was what she truly enjoyed and loved doing. Oksana completed a professional painting course at an art studio and took the initial steps toward selling her original works of art. Oksana loved to experiment with different techniques, styles, and materials. Her favorites are watercolors and textured oil paintings. Her inspiration is in everyday life. This particular watercolor painting is an old piece created a few years ago.
She doesn’t really remember a lot about creating it, but when looking at it now she sees it in a totally different light. It gains new meaning in the current circumstances. Now, when she looks at it she simultaneously sees two pictures. One is a beautiful field of sunflowers on a bright sunny day which she remembers seeing a lot of when traveling in Ukraine. The other is a fire, wild and horrific, from all the bombs and shells that are destroying her beloved country. She believes that these dark times will end soon and Ukraine will be a peaceful country again. She hopes to see these beautiful sunflower fields again.
