Before you begin:
Collect the files that you will use to customize each disc.
If you are going to use photos, choose your images carefully for color and good exposure. Avoid using blurred photos or photos that are too light or too dark.
Less is more. Don’t feel you have to fill the entire disc. Your gift will be more memorable with a few perfect images.
Investigate the software. Most cameras come with software that not only enables you to crop, resize, color adjust and eliminate redeye, but often you can create slide shows, too. This may allow you to set up the disc to automatically display the images in order as soon as the disc is inserted.
For slide shows, plan your images to be formatted similarly. Crop and rotate your images so that each one displays at the correct angle and fills the entire screen.
Consider recording a narration or messages from family members along with the slide show.
If you are sending audio discs, you will need to purchase pre-recorded discs or purchase and download selected songs from an online source like iTunes. Be sure to read the restrictions regarding duplication, as each source may be different.
