My Handkerchief Collection
By Judi Kauffman for UniKeep™
Early in our marriage my husband said that he thought it would be fair if I limited my travel souvenirs to those items I could carry. We both agreed that husbands shouldn’t look like pack horses and I wisely pointed out that jewelry is small and nearly weightless, a fact that has been useful on many occasions. But more often, my memento of choice has been a handkerchief. They are affordable, useful, fit in less space than a pack of postcards, and are available nearly everywhere.
I noticed that when they are folded, many of my handkerchiefs are about the same size as a DVD so any UniKeep™ View Case Binder™, Disc Wallet™, or EnvyPak™ pocket that will hold DVDs can be used for a hanky collection.
So that I can tell at a glance what is inside, I created “wraps” for each hanky case that shows the contents. The bright kitschy dogs and flowers are together in one, vintage lace and embroidery in another.
Images of handkerchiefs can be used as part of a “wrap” for a Disc Wallet or View Case Binder filled with photos, too. If you are not a collector, see if you can borrow some hankies to photocopy or scan.
Another option: Use neckties instead of hankies and create a “wrap” for a Binder or Wallet in which to store more masculine memorabilia or photos.
Like all “wraps” the exact dimensions are determined by which case you are using. And if you prefer to work at the computer, use a scanner and create a digital project instead of a traditional paper collage. |
