Help using templates

Adding text boxes

With the Cross Hair icon that now appears, draw your text box starting from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. Simple!

Manipulating text boxes

Roll your mouse over the Text Box you wish to manipulate (move, delete, etc.) and click anywhere inside the Text Box. A border with eight points will appear. To move the Text Box, simply click anywhere on the border (not on a point!) and drag it to wherever you wish. To resize the box, just click on a point on the border and drag in the direction you wish to expand or contract.

Formatting text boxes

Roll your mouse over the Text Box you wish to format and click anywhere inside the Text Box. A border with eight points will appear. To format the Text Box, simply double-click anywhere on the border (not on a point!). An Format Text Box window will appear allowing you to set the various parameters of your text box such as fill color, stroke (line) color, size, position, etc.

Adding images

Create a Text Box on your .DOC file.

Click anywhere inside the Text Box you just created. Now goto the top menu and select, "Insert" and then select "Picture" and then "From File..."

Browse through the window to locate your image file and select "OK" when you are finished. Your image will appear inside your Text Box. You can now manipulate your Text Box (and thus your Image) just like you would with a regular Text Box.

Printing sheets larger than 8.5 x 11

Because most UniKeep templates print on sheets that are larger than the normal document formats for both Microsoft Word and for standard printers, you may encounter problems previewing and printing the cover document you create unless you adjust some settings in Word.

Often, it is necessary to make adjustments once the file is opened on a computer that is directly connected to the large format printer. Your copy center can do this for you if you choose to have them print for you.

When the template file is opened, go into the print dialog and select the large format printer first, and then specify the large format paper size. After this is done, save the changes without printing and go back to the document. Select File --> Page Setup and make sure the settings here match all of the print requirements, i.e., paper size, orientation, etc.

Once this is set correctly, the file should immediately print correctly and can be verified in the Print Preview. However, once the document is closed and re-opened on a computer that is not connected to the large format printer, Microsoft Word will override the settings with the default settings for the system’s default printer.

Even if your own printer is capable of printing larger than letter size, chances are you don't do it very often, so your default setting will be letter size.

YOU MUST CHANGE THE PAPER SIZE IN FILE -->PAGE SETUP BEFORE WORD WILL PREVIEW OR PRINT THE ENTIRE DOCUMENT.
